South Coast Surf Sesson.

Had a fun surf shoot today on the southcoast. With the strength of the wind we knew that we would have to find shelter, and luckily the swell was big enough to wrap around, and produced some powerfull 3ft waves. I met up with my friends Ed and Tom and got a few cool shots. Hoping to hit praa sands tomorro morning, hopfully it will be as good as today.

The M

A little late in posting this, but had a good surf a few weeks ago at a North Cornwall sheltered shore break. Waves where quite slack to be honest compared to the quality we normally exspect from this place but went in regardless with my camera to get some shooting time before the bigger surf arrives. Some shots from the session below.

Photos at Tebarwith Strand

Been photographing seascape around north Cornwall for the last month or so for an upcoming exhibition that myself and a few friends are putting together in saltash through Christmas. Not been the easiest of projects when your considering we only been getting a few days of suitable weather per week for shooting.
My recent trip was to a beach called Tebarwith strand close to tintagal. Is an interesting place because of the rugged coastline. It has a stream running down the valley to the sea which has carved the most amazing path through the rock, almost like a sculpture which has make for some good interest points for my shots.

Dan and Rebecca's Wedding day.

I had the privilege of photographing Dan's and Rebecca wedding last weekend at Plymton church. Still working through a large amount of the photographs from the day, surprising how much post production is involved in photographing a wedding!
My fourth wedding to date, and was happy how it went. I did the shoot with my friend Lindsay who assisted me throught most of the day.

Dan and Rebecca where obviously made for each other, which translated in alot of the imagery of them together, was a brilliant day, topped off with great weather and good food at the reception!

More Party Fanatics

My friend Callum reaching 21 years of ages meant there was one crazy party due, and it wasn’t a disappointment. Hosted by Debbie at her cottage home with live music, the wildest dress code and truly great people made it a great night to remember!

Good times and Celebrations

A good night out in saltash to say fairwell to a good friend leaving for France for a year. Good people, french dress code and fun times, made for a good night.

Busy times

The last four months have been quite hectic for me, busy with surfing, photography ideas and following my lastest project istock.com.

From my previous blog, the most recent things which has happened has been photographing my second ever wedding of Paul and Kate getting married. I was assisting my good friend phil smith so that allowed me to have slightly less pressure and photographing the wedding freely and creatively, was a good learning curve and was pretty happy how the pictures turned out.

I was then surprised to find a few weeks later the spring addition of Threesixty bodyboarding magazine had been published with two of my bodyboarding photos featured! One shot of Olly Medland and a second of Alex Allen. both guys shred, so was great to see them get some coverage.

After the publication of Threesixty I've decided to aim some of my photography effort towards Macro Stock websites. Stock website for people that don't know are basically websites which graphic designers use to search for and buy images thay need for the work. Photographers use these site to sell there pictures straight to the designers, the stock site and photographer both get a percentage of every picture sale.
I discovered a macro stock site called Istock.com and have been working on different photo projects such as water photography, bodyboarding and landscape photography to sale on istock. it's been quite a learning curve but one that has been rewarding, You can check out portfolio at http://www.istockphoto.com/mattstansfield.

As well as istock I had my third wedding shoot which I did with the good help of my friend Lindsay who assisted me through the day. I met Steve and Lydia through my friend phil how introduced us, and recommended me for there wedding. Thy where a really nice couple and although it was pretty much a monsoon that occurred through most of the day they didn't let that put a damper on there day. Thay where vary happy with the photos I got for them which is always a relieve, I now have me forth wedding booked in September.

After I failed to get onto my teaching course in September I was hoping to do at Plymouth uni I'm now looking at wedding photography a bit more seriously as an income and invested a fair amount into some new photography equipment to help me on my way including some location lighting which I cant wait to start using. A few pics from Lydia's and Steves wedding.

I hope to keep the blog a little bit more updated now, as well as what I've talked about above iv also been on serial surf trip and general photo missions around Cornwall since I lasted blogged, you can keep updated with some of my photography work and surf trips on my www.flick.com/photos/mstansfield website.

Star trail in Saltash

Matt Whitley surfing Porthleven

After a gander through Pitpilot yesterday, was happy to find another publication of one of my photos of Matt Whitely from porthleven which I was stoked with-been difficult getting into the surf as much as I would have wanted for pictures, but hoping that once my beach lifeguarding course is complete, and my teaching placement arranged i will get more water time! Been pushing the photo front with a few stock sites as well which have been quite rewarding. Had a reasonable successful photography trip photographing the star earlier in the week in my home town of saltash of all places. Is funny how some of the best locations can end up being right on your door step! Also had a pretty good surf last sunday down porthleven, we had a bit of a search both on the north and south coast but settled with 2-3ft hollow leven and surfed it to our selfs till dark:D. Now planning some ideas for photographing a dance group on sunday! Goodtimes.

South Coast

Met up with friend Jon Parlby, and cruised down west Cornwall on what seems to be the weekly pilgrimage for the search of waves down there. We went straight to a beach I discovered a little while ago, that I knew had an epics surf set-up, but which I’ve never really been able to get on the right conditions. Today was no exception, and it ended up quite small. But we had a few fun waves in the sun, and got some interesting surf shots.

Beach Shoot

Cruized down to portwrinkle this evening with Petra in a bid try a few new ideas and capture some cool fashion/lifestyle/portrait photographs. Light was great which helped get some really cool shots. It was also a alot of fun and a nice way to spend the evening chilling at the beach, good times.
